Mixing Games about Animal Vocabularies

Students revise animal vocabularies using chart of letter. Then, students call out a name of animal using the first letter on the chart. Student with the most animals is the winner and gets a star sticker. After revising the vocabularies, they make simple sentence using animal flashcards as prompt, for example, it is a cat, it has a tail, it is tame animal. At last, they play question snake and ladder to revise the same topic.  The idea of letter chart comes from Patrycja Luczak from Poland. Adjective Circle

Goal   : To revise adjective and make sentences using adjective

The steps to play adjective circle :

1. Students sit in a circle. Teacher uses a small empty glue container (because there is no plastic ball around) as a material to throw.

2. Teacher explains to the students that the topic is revising adjective. The students will catch a small plastic container in random and every one who catches the plastic container must say a word of adjective, for example, clean, dirty, happy, sad, interesting, afraid, etc. 

3. The student who can not give an answer will be out of the circle. The last student who still sits in a circle will be the winner. 

4. The second round, students produce a simple sentence, such as, she is tall, she is beautiful, it is clean, it is interesting, etc. This activity also uses the same technique as previous activity. 

This games is inspired by Joanna Sanecka from Poland. Teacher applied this game to revise adjective vocabularies before the students learn about descriptive text of reading comprehension and added some alternatives based on the real condition of the classroom. Students felt happy and fun playing this game and they were ready to do the next step of learning English because they have already had the background knowledge of certain topic.

Finding Synonym

Yesterday, the students learnt some vocabularies related to the material of national examination. They studied about the meaning of a word by finding the synonym of it. Through card game, students found the synonym of the words.

Learning English through games is very challenging and interesting. One of the games is card game. There are many topics of learning English can be learnt through card game. Students like games a lot, so they will learn about vocabularies, English structure and grammar using cards. Here, there are two topics will be learnt using card.

Synonym cards

Students work in pair and with her/his partner they must match two cards that have similar meaning (GREEN AND ORANGE CARD). Each pair who can firstly finish the task will be the winner.
